TTWHA’s Home Rental Match Program connects homeowners with responsible, qualified tenants—many of whom work for our seven local public agencies. We make the process easy, supportive, and completely free for property owners.

How It Works

    Start by filling out our quick form to tell us about your property and leasing goals.
    You’ll also receive our Homeowner Program Overview (PDF), which outlines rental guidelines and exclusive incentives—like:

    • 💰 A one-month rent bonus

    • 🛠️ Free property management for one year
      Incentives available for eligible tenant matches.

  • Schedule a Welcome Call
    We’ll reach out to learn more about your home and walk you through next steps.

  • Get Listed for Free
    Your property will be posted on our site to attract qualified local tenants—at no cost to you.

  • Tenant Matching & Screening
    We’ll help match you with responsible renters and handle the screening process to ensure a smooth leasing experience.

🔗 Other Local Lease Incentive Programs

In addition to the TTWHA Home Rental Match Program, our region offers other housing incentive programs that you can layer or combine with ours to maximize your benefits as a homeowner:

🌱 Town of Truckee: Rooted Renters

The Rooted Renters Program offers grants between $9,000 and $26,000 to homeowners who lease their Truckee-based units at below-market rates to local workers for at least three years.

  • Targets renters earning up to 150% of Area Median Income (currently ~$118,125/person)

  • Incentive amounts are based on unit size and increase each year to encourage long-term participation

  • Administered in partnership with Placemate, where owners can self-list and connect with tenants

  • Applications for Cohort 2 open Summer 2025

🏡 Town of Truckee: Lease to Locals

The Lease to Locals program offers cash incentives of up to $18,000 to homeowners who convert their property into a long-term rental for local employees.

  • Open to Truckee homeowners with underused or short-term rental units

  • Incentives based on number of bedrooms and length of lease (minimum 5 months)

  • Tenants must work at least 20 hours/week for a local business

  • Administered in partnership with Placemate, who helps list and fill your rental

🏔️ Placer County: Lease to Locals

Placer County’s Lease to Locals program offers grants of up to $24,000 to property owners who rent their homes long-term to local workers in Eastern Placer County.

  • Available in communities like Tahoe City, Kings Beach, and Olympic Valley

  • Incentive amounts vary based on unit size and lease term (5+ months minimum)

  • Tenants must work 20+ hours per week for a local business

  • Program is administered by Placemate, with homeowner support and renter matching
